The epic setting is reason enough to visit: in the heart of Covent Garden, Grays & Feather is sprawled across two storeys in Charles Dickens’s former 1860s publishing house. But the other draw of a visit to this wine bar? A succinct but superb by-the-glass vino list that lets lesser-known English producers shine. Order up a pour of quince-noted Forgotten Monarchy Cuvée, a fizz from West Sussex, or biscuity Herbert Hall Brut from Kent to start. Then, move on to Stopham Pinot Gris, all aromatic peach and spice, followed by juicy, cherried Sharpham Pinot Noir.

The Loch and the Tyne

What pairs perfectly with English wine? Fine British produce, especially when it’s been reared sustainably from local vegetable gardens and orchards. That’s what you’ll get at chef Adam Handling’s Windsor outpost, The Loch and the Tyne – the menu showcases seasonal asparagus, Jersey Royal potatoes and Ogleshield cheese, all washed down with a clutch of hand-picked English wines by the glass or bottle. Historic Windsor feels an apt setting for such a Great British feast, but if you can’t make it there Adam also has restaurants pouring English vino in London and Cornwall.

The English Vine

You don’t even need to leave the house to celebrate English Wine Week. The English Vine runs Zoom wine tastings where, from £50pp, you can sample an array of British-made wines over an hour-long, expert-led session with your nearest and dearest. Renegade London

If we’re being technical, much of what this urban winery makes is ‘British wine’ rather than ‘English’ – because they import some grapes from the EU. But that’s not a reason to discount it. Set in the heart of London’s Bethnal Green, Renegade is focused on making interesting, exciting wines from the best-quality grapes it can find, then putting its distinct stamp on them – to delicious effect. If you’re determined to get a taste of local this week, though, they can certainly oblige. Order up a quirky hopped English sparkling wine, a quaffable Bacchus Pet Nat, or an on-trend Orange Bacchus Wine, available for free UK-wide delivery.

The Pub

The White Horse

It’s not just swanky restaurants who serve up a good glass of English fizz – fine UK-made tipples are increasingly available in pubs, too. At this seaside stalwart in Brancaster, Norfolk, you can down three different varieties of award-winning Nyetimber fizz – the Classic Cuvee NV, Rose NV, or Blanc de Blancs – alongside best-ever oysters from the waterways beyond. The Hotel

The Idle Rocks

Boutique pad The Idle Rocks, tucked in the pretty Cornish coastal town of St Mawes, has a heavy English wine list for such a small stay – you can sip your way through Cornish sparkling rosés from Camel Valley, or the aromatic ‘Harlyn’ white blend from Trevibban Mill, or even their own-label ‘Lazy Lady’, all pretty floral notes (and made in conjunction with the same producer). Pull up a seat on the restaurant terrace, with its comfy chairs overlooking the picturesque harbour, and reflect over the Cornish scene as you work your way through a bottle. It doesn’t get more English than this…

Bollinger PN VZ16

A very special, brand new iteration of James Bond’s favourite fizz, the PN VZ16 is made exclusively from Pinot Noir from Verzenay in Champagne and the house describes it as “an inimitable vision of an iconic grape variety”. The base for the wine is the fantastic 2016 vintage with older, reserve wines, the oldest of which being 2006. The PN collection was created to celebrate all the unique expressions Pinot Noir can give and this is the second in the range. Think red apple skin with tangy notes of rhubarb, plum and pear, hints of tropical fruit, a cool saline core and a pleasing, nuttiness on the finish. A simply stunning wine that’s drinking now or will keep. Very smart packaging too!

Rum

Eminente Reserve Rum Aged 7 Years

This fabulous new rum from central Cuba has been made using 100% sugar cane and aged for seven years in white, ex-whisky, oak barrels. It’s extraordinary in that it manages to harness the freshness of a traditional Cuban white, light rum with the subtle complexity of a more aged one. We love it for its spicy notes of pepper and ginger, which mingle seamlessly with fresh cherry and plum flavours and quirky notes of tobacco, cocoa and coffee bean. Glorious neat, over ice, with simple mixers or even in cocktails.

Tequila

Pancho Datos Reposado Tequila

If dads need to be a bit more ‘reposado’, then a bottle of top end, sipping tequila could be the answer. This is a 100% agave reposado that has been ‘rested’ for six months in white oak barrels that previously held bourbon whiskey. There will be no shotting this with lime and salt though, please! Think creamy vanilla fudge notes here with a classic earthiness from the agave itself and a lovely salinity that keeps it fresh. Have it alone over ice or it makes a banging Paloma Reposado! (1 part tequila to 3 parts pink grapefruit soda, lime or grapefruit garnish). The name Pancho Datos by the way, celebrates the work of historian and poet Ricardo Grijalva de León who made his name during the Mexican Revolution in 1910.

Bushmills 21 Year Old, Triple Distilled, Rare whiskey

For a sipping whiskey that will knock anyone’s socks off, this 21 year old, blended, Irish superstar from the whiskey gem in Northern Ireland’s crown is hard to beat. With 19 years spent in oloroso sherry and bourbon-seasoned casks, it then spends a further two years in madeira casks. The result is a silky smooth and unctuous spirit with enormous depth of flavour. Masthouse Column Malt Whisky from Copper Rivet

Hailing from Copper Rivet Distillery in Kent, this limited-edition whisky is only the second in their Masthouse range. It’s also the first column still single malt ever to be released by a British distillery (Scotch whisky must be produced in a pot still) and is made with Belgravia barley malt, which is grown locally on the Isle of Sheppey. Unfiltered and matured in first and second-fill ex-bourbon casks, what you get is a lighter style of whisky with appealing notes of caramel, banana and baked apple pie up front with creamy, orchard fruit flavours on the palate. OTO CBD Cocktail Bitters

We’ve tried and tested this (non-alcoholic) product over time and can honestly say that it works and is fabulous. Not only does it add an intriguing, warm and spiced flavour to cocktails with its extracts of licorice, cacao and lemongrass, but we’ve also had it in a our morning decaf latte and mixed it with a little warm water at night, so it’s wonderfully versatile. Made using fruit, vegetables, fresh and dried herbs, spices and flowers with a backbone of fine, organic apple cider vinegar, these are complex, interesting and very tasty non-alcoholic drinks that actually mimic the complexities of wine very well, while offering some intriguing, new flavour profiles. One of England’s oldest and best-known wineries, Denbies gives good vineyard: 265 acres of it, to be specific. And tucked among the manicured rows of Bacchus, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rondo you’ll find a properly lovely hotel. Seventeen rooms, dressed in contemporary stylings with citrussy pops of colour, stripey hues and (as you’d expect) enticing views over the estate, are split between an 1850s restored farmhouse and a new extension, The Brokes. Pick the wing that suits you best, drop your bags, then head off on a tour and tasting – there are several to chose from – or for a lazy meal at one of the multiple on-site restaurants.

Three Choirs, Gloucestershire

Get that camera ready. Floor-to-ceiling – and wall-to-wall – windows on the contemporary lodges at Three Choirs mean that scenic vistas to vineyard and lake pervade every minute of your stay. J.J Whitley Artisanal Russian Vodka

Now here’s a martini base with pedigree as JJ Whitley has been making spirits since 1762. With a Russian wheat vodka this tasty – and silly affordable at around £16 a pop – it’s no wonder they’re still winning awards for it to this day (this particular bottling bagged IWSC Gold in 2020). A fresh nose opens up to a full-bodied, creamy and spicy palate. Chill it right down, add a splash of vermouth and you’ve got crowd-pleasing, affordable martinis for your next dinner party.

Wry Vodka

Long-running fans of Silent Pool’s gins, we’ve now fallen for their Wry Vodka too. It’s got real local character: 100% rye grain spirit is re-distilled with rye malt, then filtered with traditionally produced hornbeam charcoal – itself made by a woodsman just over the hill from Silent Pool’s Surrey distillery. The rye certainly gives this a tad more kick, and robust character, than you get in some other vodkas; expect a peppery spice and warmth that can stand up to the flavour of wet, dirty martinis.

Black Cow Vodka

Vodka, from milk? You heard us. This Dorset-made spirit takes whey – the by-product of milk and cheese production from local grass-fed cows – and turns it into a delectable, decadent vodka. Gorgeously creamy, and with a rich and silky mouthfeel, Black Cow really shines in the driest of martinis – just a wee twist of lemon is all you need to make it shine. Not in a martini mood? This feels made for a sublimely retro White Russian (go on, we’re not judging…).

Vela Vodka

Nestled beside Kent’s River Medway, family-owned distillery Copper Rivet turns out this small-batch wheat, rye and barley vodka with loving care and attention – it even declares its vintage on the label (in our case, 2016). That’s not all that makes it special, though; unusually for most distilleries in Britain, it’s distilled grain to glass. One sip into a – preferably bone-dry – martini and it’s already exceptional. Fruit and cereal show on the nose, with a bright palate that moves from fruitiness to richness, ending with a hint of pepper.

Wildjac Fresh Citrus Vodka

We like that this vodka is kind to the planet: the 100% recycled glass bottles, FSC-certified wood stopper, and biodegradable closure are all tick marks. But this Worcestershire vodka entices with its palate too: Worcester Endeavour hops and lemon thyme, as well as zesty pink grapefruit, fragrant bergamot and herby eucalyptus, give it a bright, citrussy profile. It is a flavoured vodka, so some martini purists might balk – but serve this cool with a twist of lemon, and you’ll quicky convince ‘em otherwise.

The Best Canned Wines for Summer Picnics

Once a grin-and-bear-it drink, resorted to only in times of desperation (like on the 17:42 from Waterloo), canned wine is undergoing a revolution. Fresh and fun new brands – with carefully sourced, quality wines – are cropping up en masse. No wonder: from taste to variety, portion control to the big E (the environmental impact) there are plenty of reasons to celebrate wine in a tin. LUBANZI

When The Wine Society choose wine, they do it really blimming well, so it should be no surprise that their canned wine knocks the socks off so many others. Fruity and ‘clean’ without the sulphurous stink that cans can sometimes have, this pair of wines from South Africa provide super easy drinking that’s not confected, weedy or sickly. Named after a wandering dog that lead travellers a great distance, their soft, honeydew melon and white chocolate-scented Chenin Blanc and their spicy, juicy Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre red blend are both vegan, carbon neutral and Fairtrade certified too. The cans are really smart and when you look at their price, it’s just a no brainer. The Wine Society are not for profit, which is why these - and all their wines - are such amazing value.

Kiss of Wine

There’s a lot to love about this fresh, fun range, and one thing is its diversity. There are a whopping six single varietals to choose from, including ‘smooth’ Loire Valley Chardonnay, ‘zesty’ German Riesling, ‘chill’ Provencal Grenache Rosé and ‘crisp’ Loire Sauvignon Blanc. The stand-outs? That’ll be the Nebbiolo (nicknamed ‘feisty’) and soft, rounded Dolcetto (‘wild’) – two grapes we never thought we’d see in a canned wine. Canned Wine Co

Think canned wine can’t be great quality? This range of single varietal, vintage-declared wines will change your mind. The lively 2019 Austrian Grüner Veltliner is classic peach, apple and white pepper; the 2019 Grenache Rosé brings wild strawberries and grapefruit. The favourite however, hands down, is the 2016 Old Vine Garnacha: mature, smooth and chocolate-dipped-cherries on the nose and palate. This is a serious wine, worth its premium price tag (three 25cl tins cost £18). Snap it up quick, though; it’s just a limited edition, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Mirabeau

Provence’s pink wine poster child comes in a tinned format – and it’s just as sippable. A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, grown on sun-baked southern French clay and limestone soils, this really is summertime in a glass: opulent white peach and strawberry on the nose, and a fruity, crisp palate. When the sun comes out, there’s no better way to enjoy this than at a picnic with friends, or down by the beach with a freshly made crab sandwich.

One of the best things about canned wine is that it helps you control intake – on those ‘I’m being good’ days you can stick to just one glass, without feeling tempted to have more. And fresh and fun bubbly brand Babe makes it even more guilt-free with its low-alcohol 100 Rosé – a 6.9%, 100-calorie pink fizz that is perfectly refreshing. Not someone who gets the guilt? Stick to the rest of their range: a standard bubbly Rosé (12% ABV), as well as fizzy Pinot Grigio and a barbecue-perfect sparkling Cabernet and Syrah blend.

Daylesford

Canned sparkling and frizzante wines are a revelation. Not only do they chill quicker than a whole bottle, but their 25cl size means that you avoid the waste that comes when an unfinished bottle goes flat (not that we know what an unfinished bottle of fizz looks like…but you know, theoretically). Two great examples come from the lovely Daylesford organic farmshop: a delightfully juicy organic Rosé Frizzante and a floral-scented ‘Sparkling Italian’ (made in Prosecco, but they can’t call it that ‘cause it’s in tins). Daylesford’s sustainable, still Provencal rosé, Léoube, made for sun-soaked picnic drinking, is available to buy in can format too as Le Petit Léoube.

Sipful Organic Bubbly

Sometimes, you *need* a glass of fizz – but opening a bottle feels like overkill. Sipful is here to help; its signature is a Spanish sparkling wine, just 25cl (a third of a bottle), so you can (figuratively) pop the cork any time or place it takes your fancy. Crisp, uncomplicated and gently carbonated, these are convenient to keep on hand for a quick birthday toast, a date on the beach or really for any moment when only fizz will do (does every single day after work count?). It’s perfect splashed into a Mimosa or Bellini too and Sipful agrees – it also sells its own tinned versions of these (4.5% ABV), made with real orange, peach and blood orange juices.

Small But Perfectly Formed

One more benefit of drinking canned wine: the lightweight tin can have a gentler environmental footprint than glass bottles. And it was with this in mind that wine merchant Bibendum launched its new range of three tipples: a 2018 Californian Zinfandel Rosé, a non-vintage Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc, and a 2018 Argentinian Malbec (surprisingly quaffable from a can, this one is medium-bodied, with black cherry compote, ripe plum and red currant notes). Our favourite? Probably the Sauvignon – at £3 a can, it’s an affordable, easy-going option for impromptu park catch ups with mates.

The Uncommon

Uncommon is right: this is one of the only canned English wines out there! And it sticks to what this green and pleasant land does so well: fizz. Kentish Bacchus and Chardonnay grapes give this quirky brand’s Bubbly White Wine delicious elderflower and green apple notes – just the thing for sipping while watching Wimbledon or strolling through Kew Gardens. The Pinot Noir rosé is another winner – hello, strawberries – but if you’re part of the low-alcohol brigade, there’s something you’ll like even better. White and rosé spritzers, at just 5.5% ABV, combine the signature wines with botanicals such as rose, hawthorn, cucumber and lemon verbena.

Sampled straight, it tastes a bit like a sugar-dusted Christmas tree. Applied sparingly to a glass, and paired with gin and tonic, it mellows, becomes tangier and boosts your drink’s resinous, piney juniper notes. It’s a no-brainer with Hepple Gin – it stars Douglar Fir as a botanical – but this should go with any rich, juniper-forward bottling. Fruits for Drinks – Mixed Fruit Selection

When it comes to flavour concentration, freeze-dried fruits can often knock fresh ones out of the park. And – pop the celebration corks, folks – they don’t really go off, which means less waste. Gin plus juniper berries – a match made in heaven, right? If in doubt, a sprinkling of dried juniper berries not only adds flavour, it makes your G&Ts feel like they’ve been whipped up in a trendy bar. As you’d probably guess, the berries – which look similar to black peppercorns – give an extra lift to the resinous, piney flavour that this spirit is known for. In other words: it’s best left to those who really like classic gin profiles. Just be sure to sip with care; the aim is to leave the berries behind in the glass, not guzzle ‘em down with your G&T.

Aperini Italian Style Spritz

Again, this is ALDI doing what ALDI does best and offering products very similar to ones we know and love. This is your Aperol Spritz in a can and we have to say, they’ve done a great job, with that quintessential tangy bitter orange flavour and the balance of booze with bubbles being spot on. Drink well chilled for a fabulous picnic tipple.

CleanCo Clean G & Tonic

Encouraged by the massive growth in the market for hard seltzers, TV personality and entrepreneur Spencer Matthews originally founded CleanGin and has just launched his canned range, including CleanRum & Cola and Clean G&T. While the ‘clean’ is always slightly misleading when it comes to drinks, at 0.5% alcohol, these feel like a decent alternative to a traditional hard seltzer, with just 0.5% alcohol and a low calorie count to boot.

These Strykk cans are another great example of a zero alcohol alternative to your regular G&T and Rum & Cola. I’d take this with my afternoon tea any day.

Hidden Spirit Gems from the Oldest of the New World

With bans on selling alcohol South Africa only just lifted, we asked our friend Tobias Gorn to write something in support of a fascinating, unique industry and shine a light on one of the most exciting spirits brands coming out of the country today: Copper Republic.

The oldest of the New World wine and spirit producing countries; the Mediterranean of the southern hemisphere with great subtropical areas, beautiful landscapes and stunning flora and fauna; a rich history and culture and over 300 year old Dutch colonial farmhouses; vineyards older than some modern European countries. As you’ve probably guessed by now, I am indeed talking about South Africa and one of its finest parts: the Cape. South African wine has a rich and long history as the oldest of the ‘New World’ winemaking regions, but few people know about the fantastically rich history and diversity of its spirits.

The Spirit of South Africa

Right now, you can find world class whiskies, some unique brandies and wonderful gins; the latter with their local fynbos typicity. I am very lucky to be invited regularly to judge and consult in South Africa, as it is one of my favourite wine and spirit countries. The landscape is breathtaking and the wineries and distilleries have often retained their historic Dutch farmhouses and great gardens. On top of that, every winery and distillery has a nice restaurant and is usually set among wonderful countryside. The service is good and the people are very polite, friendly, and great fun too. It’s one of my favourite holiday destinations, with so much to see, from the Table Mountain to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and the wineries of Constantia. A detour to Boulders Beach to see the penguins, popping down to the Cape of Good Hope and the Cape Point Lighthouse and a visit to the World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary in Hout Bay on the way back to Cape Town is a wonderful journey with many unforgettable things to see.

Unfortunately the recent pandemic and some questionable political decisions by their leaders made the local drinks industry suffer as a result of consecutive bans on selling alcoholic drinks. But instead of moody political comments, it’s time to write about this amazing country, to show support and raise greater awareness of its wonderful spirits.

South African Brandy

‘Hold my glass, Monsieur Cognac…’

Brandy is perhaps the longest produced spirit locally, given that they’ve had wines since the early settlers of the 17th century. The records show that the first wines were dated 1659 and so, not unexpectedly, brandy distillation began soon after. The stills are a bit different but still similar to other big and famous brandy producing regions and the diversity of styles is great. It is hard to define a singular style but from what we tasted, South African brandy is usually a smooth, fresh and floral, zesty and aromatic spirit, different from the over-caramelised examples of some other European counterparts. Often underrated, South African brandies are sometimes aged in slightly more adventurous casks than just French oak and so with all this comes a great price point and a new field to discover.

Try: Copper Republic Honeybush Wood Finish Brandy.

Copper Republic is one of the smaller, more artisan producers and they have some stunning expressions in the Zula Cape Brandy range. They are clean and long-aged, fine examples that can stand up to any international brandies. The Honeybush Wood Finish Brandy from Copper Republic is a Cape Pot Still Brandy finished in the local honeybush wood, giving it a truly unique local twist. giving it almost a sense of ‘terroir’. It is clean and rich with floral and fresh grape notes followed by some peach and mango and plenty of spices. The honeybush wood has a nice soft influence, not overpowering but more of a complement to go along the main spirit aromas and flavours. It is a great brandy to have with a medium bodied cigar and it can be a brilliant base for a Sidecar, not to mention a good old brandy sour (actually, it is much better than just chucking some discounted VS cognac in there). There are plenty of cocktail options, but this is a spirit that is made to be enjoyed how it is and it will not disappoint a seasoned brandy or even whisky drinker. The alcohol is nicely integrated and the flavour elements are all in harmony. Expect beautiful oak spices, fresh, ripe apples, as well as toffee apples, white peach, and apricots. This is a great example of South African brandy with a real local twist. It won a well-deserved gold at the World Brandy Awards in 2020. It is also tremendous value for money.

South African Whisky

‘Scotch or Bourbon? Neither, South African Single Grain, please!’

Whisky is a popular drink in South Africa. Maybe the Brits are to blame, or maybe it’s because it’s a great drink and South Africans have a taste for finer things. Regardless of that, there are more and more local whiskies produced here and some of them are outstanding. Given the climate, the angel’s share is a bit higher but maturation is also quicker than in Scotland so it is not necessarily a bad deal. Bains and Three Ships are the bigger brands and some won World’s Best at the World Whiskies Awards, showing that whisky from South Africa should be taken seriously.

Try: Copper Republic Single Grain Whisky

Single Grain whiskies have a reputation for only being good for bulking up blended Scotch, traditionally. It’s true that there are still many light, neutral grain whiskies out there worldwide, distilled to a remarkably high strength in continuous column stills and aged in 2nd or 3rd filled casks, which hardly impart anything except faint vanilla notes and a light-yellow hue. They are usually cut down to 40% ABV and are gentle at best, if not dull. This example is definitely not one of those. It is time to think again. The Copper Republic Single Grain Whisky is a small batch whisky with a premium aim at 43%. Distilled from local yellow maize (corn) and matured in freshly charred and second fill ex-bourbon casks, one could say it might be closer to a great Bourbon whiskey than a Scotch but I’d like to say that it is truly South African in its own right. Made to be sipped like a single malt, it is truly the best of its kind. The tasting note from the World Whiskies Awards describes it thus: "on the nose there is buttery fudge, caramel and freshly split vanilla. The soft, sweet, candied palate is instantly attractive, with a pleasant fudge and coconut hit. Earl Grey tea, sea salt caramel, tons of vanilla and ginger spice.” There is indeed a nice spicy edge to the wonderful, smooth but pretty pronounced palate of this beauty and it well deserved its award in 2020.

South African Gin

‘Dutch settlers? The British Empire? Modern fashion? All of that!’

Gin is fashionable and it’s sad that some critics are shouting about a bubble about to burst, but we are happy that they are wrong. There are still many gin brands popping up globally and sales are still going up. However, the situation with South African gin is a bit more complex and it goes back in time a long way. Just think about the Dutch settlers and the British Empire; both were obsessed with gin and imported the idea of gins to South Africa centuries ago. Some of the modern gins are trying so hard to be different and we’ve tasted many weird and wonderful concoctions that claim they are from a different continent using some botanicals that are so unique to them that other distillers don’t even know about it. Desperate and sometimes boring. It is rather refreshing to see people using their locality and turning their indigenous herbs into parts of their botanical bill. Similar things happen in the Swiss and Austrian Alps, where they use local herbs and berries to create a genuinely local product. The local fynbos vegetation of the Cape is perfect to inspire some gins with a great local twist. These ‘fine-leaf’ plants love the local Mediterranean weather and there are over 8000 different types of them so there is plenty to pick from.

Try: Copper Republic African Dry Gin

The African Dry Gin is a lovely example of a modern dry gin with some traditional botanicals and a local twist. Eleven botanicals have been used, most grown in the rich red soils of the Western Cape. It is round and smooth and that 43% ABV is justified. The wild rosemary, confetti bush and local Buchu plant, which is reminiscent of blackcurrant, work together beautifully with the juniper, citrus, coriander and honeybush. A crisp dry gin with a nice long finish and a sense of locality. Brilliant in a classic G&T with the local Indian tonic water brand Fitch & Leedes and it is wonderful in a dry martini. It’s no surprise that it picked up World’s Best Signature Botanical Gin winner at the World Gin Awards 2020.

The Rooibos and Grapefruit Gin is a harmonious fusion of South African Rooibos and Cape ruby grapefruit combined with rare fynbos botanicals and African ginger root. Some flavoured gins can end up being as sweet as a liqueur and infused with manmade flavourings, but not in this case. It is a natural, artisan small batch product with a great balance between the juniper and other spicy gin elements and the rooibos and grapefruit. This is a full-bodied example with a more earthy approach, a round and big texture and plenty of fruit, sweet root notes and a nice warming finish. Try it on the rocks with a wedge of grapefruit or with the Fitch & Leedes Grapefruit Tonic for a full citrus explosion.

Local Tonic Water - Fitch & Leedes

Sometimes a bit of distance from the global buzz can help magical things happen to local brands. When the big tonic water boom was happening and a particularly successful brand was rising in the UK and beyond, Fitch & Leedes started to grow in South Africa. It is the local premium mixer brand with an amazingly crisp and well balanced Indian Tonic Water, a beautiful Bitter Lemon and a wide selection of other flavours including the aforementioned Grapefruit Tonic. It’s a brand to watch and I highly recommend trying their tonics, so you can decide for yourself how good they are, but we certainly love them.

Copper Republic is a fascinating distillery with very high standards, represented around the world by Rusty Rabbit International. Alcohol bans have been lifted, but we still need to support South Africa’s incredible drinks industry and celebrate the beautiful drinks and culture of such a wonderful country.
